Job Analysis and Description
Job analysis is among the vital processes in employee assessment and selection procedure, aimed at identifying the best-suited candidate for a particular job. The process entails an examination of details of a particular job, such as the actual work done as well as the job`s relatedness to other positions, thereby helping in the selection of the best candidate (Stewart 2012). Data collected during job analysis used to document expertise and aptitude required in particular jobs, identifying the job relatedness to other jobs within an organization, determining training needs, thus ensuring the business` legal conformity among other major HR functions (Stewart 2012). Job description is the process of illustrating job requirements, giving required competencies, which applicants should attest before applying for a particular job position. This helps applicants to identify with required knowledge, aptitude and competence of a particular job (Deb, 2006). This paper aims at preparing job analysis and descriptions for two positions in the MGM Grand Resort, which featured in the U.S. TV series in the eighteenth episode of the second season of the “Undercover Boss”
Compare two (2) job positions from the episode and perform a job analysis of each position.

2. Describe your method of collecting the information for the job analysis (i.e., one-on-one, interview, survey, etc.).
There are numerous methods used by organizations among other stakeholders to collect data and carry job analysis. However, for this case using a questionnaire would be the most effective method. First, it is an affordable and a faster method of data collections, hence saves resources. Secondly, this technique offers employees with questions which guide respondents in when giving answers. The questions can be closed-ended, open-ended, or even multiple-choice questions and they determine how job analysis will be performed. This notable method of data collection is effective due to the fact that employees can have time to review the questions to be asked.
3. Create a job description from the job analysis

Information regarding the two mentioned positions obtained through observation of the restaurant`s operations, during the period when I worked for the hotel. Through observation, it was evident that the current chain of command in the kitchen services was not up to the standards of an international hotel, with waiters and waitresses taking their orders direct to the head chef, thereby creating confusion. Through an in-depth survey of other international restaurants in the country, and interviewing current employees, job analysis was drafted, which helped in outlining the job description ( United States Small Business Administration, Office of Management Assistance, 2002).

4. Justify your belief that the job analysis and job description are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
The job description given conforms to all statutory requirements pertaining employment in the country. Among the requirements is the age of twenty-one, which complies with labor laws, which warns against juvenile employment (Deb, 2006). Additionally, the description does not give any racial, gender or physical limitations, in conformity with the country`s labor laws.
As aforementioned, job analysis examines details of particular jobs, its relatedness to other jobs within an institution. It is crucial in understanding the nature of the work performed by successful applicants who will hold the position. It is clear that job description shows the key competencies required from applicants for various jobs in organizations. These form the metric upon which applicants are selected, which ensures that the best-suited candidate is selected for a particular position and that the company conforms to all statutory requirements.
